Rick Noriega in Lubbock

Lubbock media interviews Rick Noriega

Friday afternoon was a very exciting time to be a Democrat in Lubbock, TX! U.S. Senate candidate Rick Noriega, his wife Melissa, and members of his campaign staff (what up, KT!) made a stop at Lubbock County Democratic Party HQ.

Standing room only!

It was standing room only at Party HQ even before Rick showed up. We had at least 50 Lubbock Democrats there to greet Mr. Noriega, including some of our own local candidates, members of the Texas Tech Democrats and Tech Law Democrats, TDW members, DFA members, and local union leaders. Current and former elected officials, including former speaker Pete Laney were in attendance as well.

Rick spoke eloquently as usual. I can’t wait to see a debate between him and Cornyn after the primaries are over. (In the meantime, I believe a debate between Rick Noriega and fellow candidate Ray McMurrey will take place in Austin on the 13th.) Rick also spoke about the need for a true 254-county campaign to beat Cornyn.

Rick, we’re ready to work hard for you out here in Lubbock!

I picked up an interesting rumor at the event as well: apparently both the Obama and Clinton campaigns are looking at opening campaign offices here in Lubbock. Furthermore, both candidates might even make campaign stops here in Lubbock! This would be a big first in my lifetime, and it would bring a lot of people back to the Party locally.

Lastly, here’s a bonus pic to satisfy my ego:

Yours truly with Rick Noriega and Neale Pearson

Onward!
